Celebrating the Sky with Kites! – Part 3

On Wednesday morning we got together with the Nepalese group once again at Farnborough Library, to construct the kites we began last week.  We made them by tieing two wooden poles into a crossbar, punching holes down the side of our decorated panels, and attaching them to the poles with thick thread or paper string.  There was a lot of impressive knotwork going on!

I presented the men with a variety of materials (string, glue, fishing wire) and they did an amazing job working together to get their hot air balloons aloft!  As well as building a couple of brilliant kites too!

The kites were finished off with strings of bows and other colourful decorations.  And another pair of beautiful knitted butterflies were added to the butterfly basket.

The kites, balloons and butterflies are now ready for the display – many thanks to everyone involved!
